NAU Travel

Effective Date: 1.1.2025

At NAU Travel, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our customers, especially during expeditions at sea. This Emergency Protocol outlines the procedures we follow in case of emergencies, as well as the limitations of our liability.

1. Emergency Protocol

In the event of an emergency during an expedition, the following steps will be taken to ensure the safety of all participants:

  • Immediate Response: The expedition leader or guide will take immediate action to assess and mitigate any dangers. The priority is to secure the safety of all participants and prevent further risks.

  • Communication: If necessary, emergency services will be contacted immediately. Participants will be informed about the steps being taken, and emergency contacts will be provided to the relevant authorities.

  • First Aid: Our guides are trained in basic first aid and CPR. In the event of an injury, we will administer initial care and, if required, arrange for evacuation to the nearest medical facility.

  • Evacuation: If evacuation is required, we will coordinate with local authorities, maritime rescue services, or other relevant entities to ensure the safe transport of affected individuals.

  • Weather or Environmental Conditions: In case of dangerous weather conditions (storms, rough seas, etc.), we will take necessary precautions to delay, alter, or cancel the trip. If conditions are deemed unsafe, participants will be instructed to return to shore immediately.

2. Liability Disclaimer

While we take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our clients, there are inherent risks associated with participating in maritime and adventure tourism. By booking an expedition, you acknowledge the following:

  • Participant Responsibility: You are responsible for your own health, safety, and actions during the trip. You must comply with all instructions and safety protocols provided by our guides.

  • Travel Insurance Requirement: We strongly recommend that all participants have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and evacuation in case of serious incidents. NAU Travel is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or damages that occur during the trip if the participant does not have valid travel insurance.

  • No Liability for Accidents or Injuries: NAU Travel and our partners are not liable for any personal injury, loss, damage, or death occurring during the trip. This includes any accidents or injuries sustained while at sea or during activities related to the expedition.

  • Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or changes to your trip due to events outside of our control, such as natural disasters, weather events, strikes, or other unforeseen circumstances.

3. Health and Safety

  • Physical Fitness: Participants must be in good physical health to engage in our expeditions. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, you must inform us prior to booking.

  • Safety Briefing: A safety briefing will be provided before each trip, covering essential information regarding emergency procedures, equipment usage, and behavior expectations.

  • Right to Refuse Service: We reserve the right to refuse service to any participant who, in the judgment of our staff, appears to be unfit for the activity due to health reasons, intoxication, or behavior that endangers others.
